So, today I ran 5 kilometers with the company track team around the Schlachtensee. I am very out of shape. This endeavor was made even more difficult because one of the people on the team won a bronze medal at the Atlanta Olympic games in 1996 and two guys have run the Berlin marathon about 50 million times. My ass is beat. You know I will not be able to walk tomorrow. Trust.
I did, however, encounter my first Wildschwein during the run around the lake. Those things are huge! I scared it off, however, when I screamed out: "Holy sh*t.!" It was still pretty cool though.

I think we need to have more information about your background. How is it that you came to speak fluent German? Where did you grow up? You shouldn't assume this knowledge in the minds of your readers.

Wow. I came across one while hiking in the southern US. It must have weighed about 250kg and scared the crap out of me. Luckily I was in a group and it moved off. I heard they can be pretty dangerous if their young is around.

MP:
I totally didn't know there were wild boars in the US. I thought that was a European thing. I always remember them in the "Asterix" cartoons.
I was also told that the boars can be aggressive if they have young around.
I was happy he/she ran away.

They are more common in the southern appalachia, I think. They are sometimes called "razorbacks," which is also the name of some southern university mascot, although I forget which one.

I had one cross my path while hiking in North Carolina.
I don't know how you survived the 5k run. I did Thanksgiving weekend in Dallas to catch up with a friend and he "surprised" me by pre-enrolling us in a 3k "fun" run that was held the day after I arrived. It was most definitely not a fun run for me - but I did complete it! haha..
